I am a figurative artist living in South London working mostly in charcoal, oils and pastels. I am fascinated by light and shadow, texture and surface, whether that's in the sheen on an apple in a still life, a cloudy sky in a landscape, or the softness of the fur on a dog in a portrait. The foundation of my artistic practice is life drawing; even in the years when I felt unable to paint, I always attended life drawing sessions on a regular basis and continue to do so today - these are large scale drawings in charcoal, usually on A1 size sheets of paper!
My art education began a number of years ago with a Foundation Course at Brighton Polytechnic followed by a Diploma in Fine Art at the City and Guilds School of Art in Kennington, where I was able to follow my passion for figurative painting and drawing. After raising a family and with some rather long stints working as a costume maker, charity administrator and PA, I have come full circle and am concentrating on my painting again, determined to make up for lost time - better late than never!
Please feel free to contact me should you see any drawings or paintings you like on my website - all are for sale unless otherwise stated!
