I have drawn and painted animals nearly all my life. I was brought up in the Sussex countryside surrounded by animals: cats, dogs, and an assortment of rodents before I was given my first pony, a little brown gelding that could jump a five-bar gate called Jimmy. Jimmy was followed by Otto, a beautiful pure bred Russian Arab (his name in the stud book is Otvajny), originally from the Tersk Stud in south east Russia, which I owned until he died at the grand old age of 32. I had a break from horses for a few years while my children were little before they started riding; a very pretty New Forest pony called Whisper was soon purchased, followed by Frankie (a chestnut Anglo-Arab) and Billy (a grey Connemara). The girls are now grown up but we still have Billy and Frankie as much loved family members. We also have two rescue dogs, Salsa and Caspar, as well as two cats, Chloe and Purdey, plus a fluffy lop-eared (and grumpy) rabbit called Honey-Bunny!
My art education began a number of years ago with a Foundation Course at Brighton Polytechnic followed by a Diploma in Fine Art at the City and Guilds School of Art in Kennington, where I was able to follow my passion for figurative painting and drawing. After some rather long stints working as a costume maker in Boston USA, a Personal Assistant at Sothebys, a Research Assistant in the office of HRH The Prince of Wales, and a charity administrator, I have come full circle and am concentrating on my painting and animal portraits again. I am also a keen landscape painter and there are examples of some of my paintings and pastel drawings throughout this website.
Please feel free to contact me should you see any drawings or paintings you like on my website.
